Muay Thai
People learn martial arts because these help them become better persons. We know that the objective in learning martial arts like Muay Thai or the Art of Eight Limbs is not to hurt people. Martial arts are also for personal defense and self-improvement.
Muay Thai History
Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is Thailand’s national sport. Today, there are schools and competitions worldwide that cater to Muay Thai. Muay Thai is more famous nowadays because it reaches mainstream audience due to popularity of MMA or mixed martial arts. UFC’s middleweight champion Anderson Silva makes Muay Thai more renowned because he’s using it effectively to defeat opponents. Like Silva, you can mix Muay Thai with other martial arts like Judo, Taekwondo, Capoeira, and Brazilian Jui-Jitsu.
Muay Thai Techniques
East Coast United will help you master the techniques of Muay Thai. We’ll make you competitive in wear and tear fights. During the training, you’ll learn how to use your eight limbs (hands, elbows, knees, and feet). You’ll master proper hip rotation to block, and throw excellent elbows, punches, and kicks. Other techniques that we’ll help you master in Muay Thai are foot-thrust, neck wrestling, and clinch. We’ll also help you master the six different defense categories in Muay Thai, which are blocking, avoidance, redirection, anticipation, evasion, and disruption.
Muay Thai can be more dangerous than other martial arts because of the Science of Eight Limbs. Through East Coast United, you’ll master how to effectively mix knee strikes, elbows, kicks, and punches as opposed to boxing that uses two points (fists) or four points’ (fists and feet) combat sports like savate and kickboxing.
Muay Thai Conditioning and Training
Engaging in this type of martial arts will help you become physically fit. Some use this as a form of work out to make their body become leaner without the fats. The focus of Muay Thai training is on body conditioning because you need to be tough and fit for the competition. Muay Thai conditioning methods that you’ll undergo at our gym are abdominal exercises, medicine ball exercises, weight resistance exercises, rope jumping, shadowboxing, running, and even weight training.
Our gym is equipped with safety training gears and appropriate equipment. Muay Thai gears will also help you master absorptions and reactions in different attacks from an opponent.
